So Harry Potter did it again eh!! Says translations news, and according to Norgy Puchunggal, known to be one of the professional translations experts, translating all of Harry Potter books into Tibetan, there is much of a difference between what J.K Rowling composed and the ways of living in Tibet, says translations news.

To quote Norgy Puchunggal, his favorite spell by Harry Potter is “Expelliarmus!”, he further goes on to say that the addiction for such a world created by the author has many differences, he says “I’m addicted to the magic world created by Rowling, which has plenty of differences compared to our Tibetan religious world.” As told to translations news, Norgy Puchunggal further adds and to quote “Tibetan magicians can curse their enemies without seeing them in person, whereas Harry needs to use his wand” says translations news.

Norgy Puchunggal is the HOD for the Tibetan Youth Newspaper editing team, and he had read the first Harry Potter in the year 2003 and from then was hooked onto the epic novel ever since. Norgy Puchunggal to quote, says “At that time, there were few people in Tibet who even knew about Harry Potter. One of my colleagues recommended I read this book to my child,” as told to translations news correspondents.

He also opines that the version of Harry Potter in Chinese is also amongst the favorites of all translations he has read and understood so far! Norgy Puchunggal says and to quote” As soon as I picked up Harry Potter, I couldn’t put it down,” says the 40-year-old man, who compares the series to the Heroes of the Marshes, one of China’s four great novels”. He further adds “ It’s also hard to stop me whenever I start to translate the book, because by that time, I have already entered the book’s magic world,” says translations news.

More than two years is what it took Norgy Puchunggal to complete the professional translations task of “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”, which was the first book in all of its series to come out. Then he took another full year to use translations on the second Harry Potter book, which is “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets”, says translations news.

The main aim for Norgy Puchunggal now is to make translations of the famous series for Tibetan readers as popular as what they were in English. But not all of the translations done for Harry Potter are in Tibetan, some original English stances have been left untouched to keep the essence of the magic in it full proof, says translations news.

with a child like enthusiasm and the aim to make young readers read more, Norgy Puchunggal loves watching cartoons whenever he gets time with his only daughter, says translations news.

To quote Norgy Puchunggal, “I really like China’s Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf and the SpongeBob SquarePants series,” he further says “In comparison to other children’s books, Harry Potter is very deep and sophisticated. The books express concepts like loyalty among friends, braveness and keeping a positive spirit when facing adversity,” says translations news.
