New Kannada Konkani dictionary released

A Kannada Konkani dictionary compiled by noted scholar M Madhava Pai was released at a function in Mangalore, South India earlier this week. Konkani is an Indo Aryan language spoken by about 3.6 million speakers in Western India. It is the official language of the state of Goa. It does not have a script of its own and uses the Devanagiri or the Roman or Kannada script. Kannada is a Dravidian language with 50 million speakers predominantly in the state of Karnataka, South India and is the 25th most spoken language in the world. Published by the Konkani Language and Sanskriti Prathishtan, the comprehensive dictionary was compiled by the author at the ripe old age of 84. For more information please visit
