Assisted speech iPad app receives accolade

A free iPad app for people with speech disability has received an average 4.5 stars from about 100 reviewers and downloaded over 28,000 times with 210 average downloads a day since launch in March. The creator of the app aptly named Verbally viz. Intuary has been voted as one among America’s top 3 most promising social entrepreneurs of 2011by Business Week readers.

Verbally is a free text to speech augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tool that enables people with speech disabilities to speak easily and take part in conversations. It is popular with persons suffering from autism, stroke, ALS, ataxia, muscular dystrophy, Parkinson’s, Down syndrome and cancer who have difficulty in speaking.
